Michael Young candidate for WBC, with Mexico
While with the Texas Rangers in 2006, infielder Michael Young played with
Team USA in the inaugural World Baseball Classic.
Young is with a new major-league team now, traded to Philadelphia this month.
He could also appear with a different team in the third WBC, to be held in
March.
Mexico lists Young among the candidates for its team. Young qualifies because
his mother is of Mexican descent. Young has not indicated if he intends to
play for Mexico.
Milwaukee right-hander Yovani Gallardo, of Fort Worth, is also listed on the
tentative Mexican roster.
