Daniel Murphy suffered a Grade 2 tear of the medial collateral ligament in
his left knee during Sunday's game, according to ESPN New York.
He is done for the season. Murphy doesn't need surgery, but he will have a
four-month recovery period. Murphy strained the MCL in his right knee last
season and rehabbed the injury. Nick Evans should be in line for at-bats at
first with Murphy and Ike Davis both out for the year. It's a disappointing
end to a nice season for Murphy, who hit .320/.362/.448 over 391 at-bats.
