S:Yes.

J: I am Taiwan. There has being a student’s demonstration in Taiwan against
government handling with trade pact with Chinese mainland. Do you have any
comment on that and student demonstrators have taken over the legislature and
they tried to move into Executive Yuan, but put out by riot police. How do
you see government’s handling of this situation? Do you have any concerns?
記者：我來自台灣。現在在台灣有學生抗爭活動，反對台灣政府處理與中國的貿易合約。
關於，佔領立法院及移入行政院的抗爭學生，他們的行動被鎮暴警察中止，你有甚麼看法
？你怎麼看台灣政府處理這個情況的方式？
S: We certainly support Taiwan’s vibrant democracy, which allows for this
robust political dialogue and arranged issues. But the Agreement on
Cross-strait Trade in Services I think it’s a referring thing. It’s an
issue for Taiwan to decide. We hope that this discussion can be conducted
civilly and peacefully. We have welcome steps taken by both sides on the
Taiwan Strait. They’ve taken to reduce tension and improve relationships
between Taipei and Beijing. We encourage them to continue constructive
dialogue. And again, the specific I think the agreement is referring to you
to decide.
發言人：我們當然支持台灣活躍的民主，這有助健全的民主對話與議題。但是，兩岸服貿
協議，主要是看你們，由台灣決定。我們希望這次討論能和平進行。我們希 望有協調兩

J: Are you offering any counsel to President Ma’s government as what to do,
what not to do in terms of how to deal with the demonstrators?

S: Not to my knowledge, I am happy to check.
