在線上群組討論熱烈的一道不會解的題目。
很多考生第一次做到這題時，都會好奇：這兩個選項到底該怎麼解？
但實際上，英語母語考生對這題的判斷毫無困難。
這也就是為什麼這題在OG裡的分類僅被歸類在「中難度」的原因。
各位要注意到，介系詞本身是有所謂的「語意暗示」的，
同一個動詞搭配上不同的介系詞，就會呈現不同的邏輯關係。
而GMAT恰好就把這個觀念放在idiom的考點下面出題。
各位可以翻翻手上OG的第九章第二節，找到八大策略裡的Idiom詳細研讀，
便會發現這是OG提醒各位要注意的重點測驗方向。
簡單一點的，像是：
argue ... （主張....）
argue for （支持）
argue against （反對）
複雜一點的像是：
restrict X from Y（禁止X從事Y）
restrict X to Y（限制X只能從事Y）
這些都是不同的介詞所表達出的不同邏輯關係。
換句話說，動詞跟介詞的搭配不是只有一種，
介詞隱含的語意暗示會影響整個片語想表達的邏輯關係。
那麼，換回來看這題，到底兩個選項相互比對，有什麼差別呢？

one end of North America to the other.
(C) That Thule artifacts are remarkably similar throughout a vast
region is, in part, explainable *as*
(D) One explanation *for* the remarkable similarity of Thule artifacts

各位可以看到，在呈現這個句子最重要的邏輯「解釋原因」的概念上，
兩句話的作者分別選擇不同的介詞as / for；那麼這兩個介詞有什麼區別呢？
就讓我們拿最簡單的例子來說：
He is known as an internet celebrity.
He is known for his charity.
我們便可看到不同的介系詞代表不同的語意關係。as做介系詞時，有「作為」、
等同的觀念，陳述的是身份與角色，與其所修飾的對象是「等同」的邏輯關係。
he is known as an celebrity. （他以網紅的身份出名，他＝網紅）
而當我們使用for的時候呢？for本身帶有「因為」的語意暗示。
所以：he is known for his charity. 就變成他因慈善事業為人熟知。
那如果我們用錯了會怎樣呢？
He is known FOR an internet celebrity.
這句的意思大概是跟網紅搞多人運動，搞到舉世聞名了吧？（我沒有說是誰）
He is known AS his charity.
這就完全看不懂了，對吧！「他作為慈善事業？」慈善事業是人嗎？
所以換回來這題：
The remarkable similarity of Thule artifacts throughout a vast region
can, in part, be explained as a very rapid movement of people from
one end of North America to the other.
(C) That Thule artifacts are remarkably similar throughout a vast
region is, in part, explainable *as*
(D) One explanation *for* the remarkable similarity of Thule artifacts
throughout a vast region is that there was
在整句的邏輯上，第一件事「各地的文物都非常相像」
跟第二件事「人群在北美曾經遷徙快速」很明顯並非同一概念，
而是前面當結果，後面解釋原因。所以此時介系詞的使用應該要用for才是合理，
使用as會變成「文物相像」＝「快速移動」，邏輯明顯不通，
在考試時是第一層級的「語意不合理」問題，可以以此首先排除C。
