Is Draymond Green running the Warriors’ draft room?

OAKLAND — Various team executives lined the Warriors’ facility during the
team’s latest round of pre-draft workouts Tuesday afternoon, including
forward Draymond Green.

Green, who’s usually known for barking defensive orders to his teammates
during the season, is taking on a different gig as the team evaluates who to
take with the 28th pick of the NBA Draft Thursday: team consultant.

For the last three days, Green has immersed himself into the Warriors’ draft
planning. In addition to maintaining a mid-court seat during on-court
workouts, Green has even participated in draft meetings alongside the team’s
brain trust of general manager Bob Myers and assistant general manager Larry
Harris.

Basketball acumen aside, Green’s presence during the draft process is
curious considering the three-time all-star won his third championship 11
days ago.

“He loves basketball,” Myers said. “That’s the kind of guys you want, that

During Tuesday’s workout, Green sat alongside owner Joe Lacob. And while he
didn’t run the workouts, his presence was felt.

“He just nodded his head a couple of times, when somebody said something
about a cut or how you’re supposed to play defense on it and where the
rotations are,” said former Oregon forward MiKyle McIntosh, one of six
prospects who worked out Tuesday. “He’s been through the process, he’s
been a second-round pick so he kind of knows how it goes and how you have to
be a hard worker and the different things you’ve got to be.”

draft day plans. Last summer, forward Kevin Durant entrenched himself in the
team’s downtown Oakland facility, as they went on to pick center Jordan Bell
at No. 38.

“I think our guys are vested in what we’re doing,” Harris said. “If Klay

the Warriors’ war room when the team ponders its 28th selection. something

“Having Draymond around always makes everything a little more entertaining,
