關代、關副的省略時機：兩子句的主詞、動詞俱在時，連接詞(關代、關副)才能省略
1. this is the man who stole the money.
this= S1, is=V1, who(關代，代表前面的man)=s2, stole=v2
若此句刪掉who的話，則第二個子句就沒有主詞，故不可以刪
2. this is the man whom I spoke to.
this=s1, is=v1, I=s2, spoke=v2，兩子句都有主動詞故whom可刪
***重要：上面句子修改如下
this is the man to whom I spoke.
此句的whom就不能刪，雖然同樣兩子句都有主動詞，但如果刪了whom會變成下面：
this is the man to I spoke.
那個to的受詞變I，整個語意是錯的，故不能刪
3. he is Mr. Lee, whom I was telling you about.
看到逗點要先想：
3.1同位語：若是同位語的話，該子句應該沒有動詞*
*如果有動詞的話，應該是該同位語有關代去修飾該同位語，而該動詞是在關代裡
3.2要有關代或連接詞連接兩句子，若沒有關代，則應該是用分詞構句來連接**
**這部份也是很多人常錯的部份，看到逗點而沒有連接詞幾乎90%是考分詞構句
剩下的就是考連接詞
由上面兩點來看，逗點後面的whom是關代，故該whom不能刪。
另外任何一完整的子句前面加that即變成名詞子句，如下：
John and Ivy have gotten married.
→that John and Ivy have gotten married：整句為名詞子句，做為名詞用
that John and Ivy have gotten married is true.
that~ married是名詞，當S2, is=v2,
John and Ivy=S1, have=V1
如果你把that刪除了的，那該子句(John~married)就不能當S2，故不能刪
結論：that當名詞子句用時，整個句子移到前面，that就不能刪。
但可以改寫成下面
it is true that John and Ivy have gotten married.
it=s1, is=v1, John and Ivy=s2, have=v2
故此句的that就可以刪。
