Stocks rallied Tuesday as markets attempted a recovery following a battering
amid fears that President Donald Trump will attempt to fire Federal Reserve
Chairman Jerome Powell.
The president's criticisms of Powell continued Monday as Trump said he should
lower interest rates. Last week, Trump said Powell's "termination cannot come
fast enough." However, he said Tuesday afternoon that he has "no intention"
of firing the Fed chairman.
Meanwhile, a recent CNBC poll found that a small majority of American adults,
57%, disapprove of his tariff policy and 60% disapprove of his handling of
inflation and the cost of living.
