James Harden Says His Beard Protected Him When He Bounced The Ball Into His
Face

James Harden has starred one of the most curious moments in the NBA during
the first week of competition. Besides his skills with the basketball in his
hands, the Houston Rockets star has been known for his beard, too, and we
discovered it doesn’t serve to decorate his face and warm it, but to protect
Harden from himself.

During Saturday’s night game against the New Orleans Pelicans, with both
teams tied as time ran out in the second quarter, Harden desperately tried to
shoot. Josh Hart put a great defense on him and Harden couldn’t get the ball
in the air, finishing the second quarter. He got mad because no foul was
called, slamming the ball against the floor, which then bounced back directly
into his face.

This was as curious and funny as it sounds, but Harden acted as if nothing
happened.

After the game, a reporter, of course, asked him if getting a basketball full
in the face hurt. He said no, and praised his beard for protecting him.
