USA Basketball denies Carmelo Anthony's request to join FIBA World Cup roster
美國籃球隊拒絕了Carmelo Anthony想加入FIBA球員名單的請求
As one of the most decorated players in USA Basketball history, Carmelo
Anthony expressed interest through a representative in joining the team for
the 2019 FIBA World Cup, USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo
told Sports Illustrated.
根據美國籃球委員會總管Jerry Colangelo告訴SI記者，曾經身為美國國家籃球隊員，拿下
諸多獎牌的Carmelo Anthony，曾藉由其他人代表，表示想加入2019 FIBA世界盃美國隊的
意願。
Colangelo commended Anthony for his contributions to the international team
over the years, but maintained that the squad was moving forward with a new
group for this tournament and beyond.
Colangelo推崇了Anthony在過去幾年在國際比賽所作的貢獻，但是他仍舊說會以目前的陣
容繼續下去。
“I love Carmelo,” Colangelo said. “He made a great contribution. He was a
very good international player. But for where we are and what we’re doing,
that conceivably could have been a distraction. I understand why the request
was made. He’s trying to reestablish himself. I think that has to be done in
the (NBA).”
「我愛Carmelo，」Colangelo說。「他曾經作了許多偉大的貢獻，他曾經是非常好的國際

Anthony won three gold medals and a bronze across four Olympics with Team USA
and was named USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year in 2006 and 2016.

The 35-year-old is a free agent who played 10 games with the Houston Rockets
last year before being cast away for the rest of the season. He's spent time
this summer insisting he is ready to add value to a team.
35歲的Anthony是FA，去年球季在火箭打了10場比賽後就被釋出。他今年暑假持續練習，堅
持說他已經準備好要替球隊貢獻。
Through 16 seasons in the NBA, he has averaged 24 points per game, although
he hasn't surpassed that mark since 2014-15, while with the New York Knicks.

Several big names, such as Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal, have opted not to
play in the World Cup this year. That trend opened the door for roster
fluidity and Anthony saw an opportunity to demonstrate his worth.

He'll have to discover another avenue if he wants to see the court in
