Lin and Curry played together for Golden State during the 2010-11 season, and
Lin shared a story about the Warriors star.

The Warriors were out of contention for the playoffs heading into the last
game of the season when, according to Lin, Curry was suffering from a
sprained ankle.

“He rolled his ankle the game before and everyone was like, ‘Don’t play. We
’re not playing for anything, you’re risking it, you already injured your

And so for me, I was excited in terms of getting an opportunity to play
because they had called me up back then from D League and so I was getting
excited to play.’’

Getting excited too quickly, it turned out.

“I was expecting to start and then they were like, ‘Actually, Steph might
play tonight,’ ” Lin said. “And I was like, ‘What?'

“… I didn’t even know he was healthy enough. So he had to play through a
lot of pain. But the fact that he actually did that, swollen ankle, Game 82

and I was like, ‘Man, this dude loves the game and he cares about it and he
doesn’t take it for granted.' ’’

That night, Curry played 24 minutes and had 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and
added a team-high nine assists as the Warriors beat the Portland Trail
Blazers and finished the season with a record of 36-46.

“I don’t know how many NBA players, anybody, (who) would really be like, ‘

game that much and are that talented, they’re going to be great.’’
