The Warriors and free-agent big man Jermaine O’Neal have reached an
agreement on a contract, according to ESPN. Players may officially ink deals
with teams after the NBA moratorium ends Wednesday.
The 6-foot-11, 226-pound 34-year-old played with Warriors head coach Mark
Jackson early in his career and was represented by Warriors general manager
Bob Myers. O’Neal has averaged 13.4 points and 7.3 rebounds for six teams
over his 17-year career, including putting up 8.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in
18.3 minutes per game in Phoenix last season.
The Warriors, who already added Marreese Speights this week, need front court
depth, because backup center Festus Ezeli is expected to miss a big portion
of the season after knee surgery.
