Eric Bailly and Scott McTominay poor vs Liverpool
Man Utd lost 4-2 to Liverpool in the Premier League fixture and here are how
the players rated at Old Trafford.
Dean Henderson - 5
Impressively denied Diogo Jota twice before the Portuguese beat him and at
fault for Roberto Firmino's second.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 6
Started well before he set up Bruno Fernandes to force the breakthrough. The
only starter who performed remotely respectably.
Eric Bailly - 3 (.....
Fortunate the penalty he initially conceded was not uphold. Reckless, rash and
another undeserving recipient of a generous contract.
Victor Lindelof - 4
Failed to take the initiative without Harry Maguire and loose with his passing.
Liverpool's pace predictably caused him problems.
Luke Shaw - 5
Not dynamic in the first-half and complacently tried to dribble out of his own
area, enabling Liverpool to make it 3-1.
Scott McTominay - 3
Aggressive but rarely effective and Liverpool had the measure of United's
midfield until Paul Pogba moved there.
Fred - 3
Mildly better than McTominay but still inferior than Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara
and Giorginio Wijnaldum. Helped Liverpool make it 3-1.
Marcus Rashford - 5 (downgrade on Greenwood......
A major downgrade on Mason Greenwood. Gave United hope with a goal but it is
not controversial to say Rashford should not be starting in the Europa League
final.
Bruno Fernandes - 5
Forced the breakthrough when his shot was turned in by Nat Phillips but did
little else. His histrionics are becoming tiresome.
Paul Pogba - 5
Gave a free-kick away and then let Roberto Firmino run away from him. Better
from deep than on the left this time.
Edinson Cavani - 5
Should have scored at 0-0 following an error by Alisson. Was anonymous for
periods but got going again with Greenwood on.
Subs
Mason Greenwood - 6
Sparked improvement and unlucky not to score.
Nemanja Matic - 4
Gave ball away for fourth.
Manager - 4
The team was predictable but Solskjaer should not be placing his trust in
Bailly and that backfired. Rashford is being overplayed, doing him and United
little good. Greenwood sub sparked improvement.
