Manchester United player ratings: Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes poor vs
Man City
Man United lost another semi-final in their 2-0 defeat to Man City and here are
how the players rated at Old Trafford.
Dean Henderson - 6
Made his Old Trafford career debut and saved well from Riyad Mahrez after
conceding a soft goal.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 5
Might have asked Phil Foden to switch wings with his patsy, Raheem Sterling.
Settled in the second-half, though City were not as adventurous.
Victor Lindelof - 6
An accomplished return for most of it but there was no defensive authority in
dealing with John Stones's goal.
Harry Maguire - 5
Barely put a foot wrong in the first-half against the side that wanted to sign
him but then watched the ball and not Stones.
Luke Shaw - 5
Let Sterling get away from him for an early chance but otherwise coped
commendably with the City winger. Let Stones go for the goal.
Scott McTominay - 5
Cannily laid the ball off for Bruno Fernandes to test Zack Steffen but had to
rely on defensive positioning to try and slow down City.
Fred - 6
More restrained in his deep midfield role and disciplined with his passing,
which compromised United's attacking fluidity.
Bruno Fernandes - 4 (總有這樣的一天
Tested Steffen early on but so loose with the ball and became desperate in the
second-half. An off-night was inevitable sooner or later.
Paul Pogba - 5
Errant touches at opportunistic moments and never commanded the game as well as
Ilkay Gundogan or Kevin De Bruyne.
Marcus Rashford - 4
Did not run at Oleksandr Zinchenko enough and caught offside carelessly on a
number of occasions. Sulked at times.
Anthony Martial - 3
Edinson Cavani would have likely started had he been available and Martial was
more lethargic than the Uruguayan, nine years his senior.
Subs
Mason Greenwood - 4
Had no impact.
Donny van de Beek - 5
Got a cameo.
Manager
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - 4
Absence of Cavani exposed United in the second-half after they went 1-0 down
and the timing of the first change was too late. Martial was somehow allowed to
continue.
