Retaining and recycling possession is not enough. A passing accuracy of 90%
would suggest the midfielder had a relatively steady and assured 90 minutes.
However, Cleverley was unable to provide a cutting edge or any kind of
incisiveness. Too often his passes were sideways or unimaginative.

The eight he misplaced spoke volumes. When opportunities were on the verge of
opening, that is when Cleverley’s composure deserted him. Two moments linger
in the memory, the first a rushed ball towards the left flank that was way
off target and the second was an ambitious attempt to change the play that
gave Antonio Valencia little chance of controlling.

As the more advanced of the midfield two, it was acceptable to expect
Cleverley to link the play to those further ahead of him but also chip in
with a sprinkling of creativity. Yet only two passes were completed in the
final third.

Cleverley won just two of eight tackles. Granted he was involved in
challenges, displaying a commendable work ethic, but a success rate of 25%
did not suffice. Four of his losses came in dangerous positions in his own
half, putting his nervous defence at risk. The typical traits of bullish
efficiency that many defensive midfielders command cannot be provided by
Cleverley.
C23在八次鏟球中只成功了兩次。當然啦、他確實試圖去挑戰了、並且表現了值得稱道的
工作熱情，但是25%的成功率顯然是不夠的。其中四次的鏟球失敗是在己方半場很危險的

總之是有點難過啦...
其實傳統442這種coast-to-coast的中場真的不容易
往往同時要求你要防守夠強悍、又要有一定的能力和創意傳出威脅球
所以球員表現往往都很極端
要不是攻守兩端都很強悍、就是攻守兩端都乏善可陳
偏偏我們家的C23好像目前看來比較像後者啊...
從上禮拜的Sunderland的比賽看來，我覺得他是真的無可適從，
根本不知道自己該做什麼。
大概他覺得前面喂球有Mata、後面掃蕩有Fletchy，所以自己乾脆就跑跑龍套嗎？
我覺得這就是心態的問題了，其實他兩個人的工作都該拼命幫忙做好，
但是光看他小橫傳但求無過的態度、就知道他只管好自己分內的想法昭然若揭...
這個心態真的很不妙啊......
向來講究血性曼聯青訓系統怎麼會養出這種公務員心態的年輕球員呢......
