Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said in a radio interview
Monday that the club will call up third base prospect Joey Gallo
on Tuesday.
Advice: Adrian Beltre is set to miss the next 2-3 weeks with a
dislocated left thumb and the Rangers have decided to promote
their top prospect to fill the void. Daniels stressed that he
expects Gallo to return to the minors once Beltre returns. But, of
course, if the slugger tears it up they could always change their
minds and find another spot for him. Gallo is batting
.314/.425/.636 with nine homers and 31 RBI for Double-A Frisco
this season. He's worth an add in all formats, though it's
certainly possible he's not ready to handle major league pitching
yet.
