Astros relieve Mills of managerial duties

The Astros relieved Brad Mills of his managerial duties Saturday night,
general manager Jeff Luhnow announced.

Houston, which has gone 39-82 this season, also dismissed hitting coach Mike
Barnett and first-base coach Bobby Meacham. The Astros will hold a 10 a.m. CT
news conference Sunday to announce their interim manager and staff.

Mills said Luhnow was waiting for him in the manager's office after a 12-4
loss to the D-backs on Saturday at Minute Maid Park.

"They've been great to me and how they've gone about everything and I love
our fans. The fans we have here in Houston are the best, and they've been
