BioNTech founder Ugur Sahin announced on Monday the successful end of a
geopolitical tightrope act: After months of standstill in negotiations with
Taipei, Taiwan is now to receive ten million doses of the BioNTech vaccine
against the corona virus. Numerous political cliffs were avoided because the
Taiwanese government was replaced by two leading Taiwanese corporations and a
foundation as buyers. The iPhone manufacturer Foxconn and the semiconductor
manufacturer TSMC want to donate the $ 350 million vaccine to the Taiwanese

BioNTech who negotiated the contract with the Taiwanese, but the Chinese
pharmaceutical company Fosun. Last year, BioNTech acquired the license to

release says.
