美國在台協會對2020年1月2日直升機墜毀事件表達哀悼之意
我們對於今天早上造成包括參謀總長沈一鳴在內等八名人員不幸罹難的直升機墜毀事件深
感哀慟。美國在台協會謹代表美國,在此向罹難者的家人、同袍、及所屬團體表達最深切
的哀悼之意;我們同時祝福生還者早日康復。許多過去和目前仍在美國在台協會服務的同
仁,都曾經與沈參謀總長及其他罹難同仁共事愉快,一同致力促進美台的安全合作。這些
不幸喪生的好朋友與曾經共事的夥伴將會常留在我們的心中。我們希望,我們對支持台灣
安全的堅定承諾,可以榮耀他們曾經留下的回憶。
美國在台協會處長酈英傑表示:「能有機會和沈將軍共事,一同促進美台安全關係,我感
到非常榮幸。他是一位具有睿智見解、高度幽默感、且備受愛戴的領導者、同事和好友。
我會非常懷念他。」
美國在台協會已準備好,隨時就此一事件為台灣提供協助。

AIT Extends Condolences for the Tragic Helicopter Crash on January 2, 2020
We are deeply saddened by this morning’s tragic helicopter crash, which took
the lives of eight passengers, including Chief of the General Staff General Sh
en I-Ming. On behalf of the United States of America, the American Institute i
n Taiwan extends its deepest condolences to the families, colleagues, and comm
unities of those lost in the crash; we wish the survivors a quick and full rec
overy. Many past and present employees of AIT had the great pleasure of worki
ng with General Shen and the others who passed away to advance U.S.-Taiwan sec
urity cooperation. The absence of these dear friends and dedicated partners wi
ll be felt for many years to come. We hope that our steadfast commitment to s
upporting Taiwan’s security will honor their memory.
AIT Director Brent Christensen said, “I was privileged to work closely with G
eneral Shen in our joint efforts to strengthen the U.S.-Taiwan security relati
onship. With his keen insight and good humor, he was a valued leader, colleag
ue and friend. He will be sorely missed.”
AIT stands ready to assist our Taiwan counterparts in the aftermath of this tr
agedy.
