For others, though, 有另外一種對 omens 和 signs 的態度
而這兩種態度是對立的 (因為 though)
所以第一格就可以選了
others 對 omens 和 signs 的態度是 clear and reliable
所以 some 的態度就是相反, 所以就是 unclear or unreliable,
而選項中最接近的就是 irrational
再來第二格
some 認為 omens 和 signs 是 irrational
他們是根據 甚麼樣的evidence ?
所以第二格其實廣義的第一格答案(irrational)的反義
也就是 rational, reliable or clear
所以可選答案中, circumstantial 可以刪去
剩下 empirical 和 substantiated
但因為 some 不願相信 omens 和 signs
而 omens 和 signs 的判斷依賴的是經驗和直覺
所以既然他們不願相信 又怎麼會去相信 empirical 的 evidence 呢?
所以 empirical 刪掉, 選 substantiated
最後第三格
通篇文章都是在說 omens 和 signs 可否 foretell future
在這樣的文章脈絡底下
for others 來說,
omens 和 signs 是未來事件的預警
代表著 omens 是事件剛發生或即將發生時的一種可靠 marker
於是
第三個選項最好的答案當然是 incipient
其他的選項都沒有隱含和未來的連結關係
