Thoughts on Newly Promoted (to Front Bench) Assistant Coach Jama Mahalela:

Mahlalela was hired away from the Toronto Raptors last summer because of his
history in player development. His first season — in which he oversaw the
growth plan Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga while working closely with
Andrew Wiggins — went well enough to earn the promotion.

an elevated role for Chris DeMarco, the longtime assistant — a lone coaching

season.

Kenny Atkinson moves into the lead assistant role. Had Atkinson also left,
the Warriors planned an outside search to find an established assistant with
head coaching experience. But Atkinson remains, prompting Kerr to promote
entirely from within. “Getting Kenny back allows us a lot more flexibility
in terms of what we decide to do with our responsibilities,” Kerr said.

Atkinson and Bruce Fraser are the two mainstays on the front of the bench,
both bumped up a spot. Jama Mahlalela is being elevated from behind the bench
to fill the Brown vacancy.

While Brown and DeMarco coordinated the defense, Atkinson and Fraser handled

role.

and forth from Santa Cruz.
