1. Full-house Meeting
Ever-helpful distinguished Blisser, Angel, started punctually and her topic interested a lot of new Blissers to join such a fruitful meeting!!!
2. Warm up activity-One mind in one team
Angel asked 2 or 4 to act as one person interacting with each other. Members in one team can only say one single word at one time. Through the activity, we understood the importance of communication among team work. And everyone has his own preferred communication style.
3. Communication’s definition
Communication is the activity of conveying meaningful information from one entity or group to another. The purpose of communication is to make sure the receiver has understood the sender.
4. From External to Internal to define Your Communication Types
Angel led us to distinguish our own communication types via the external characteristics (ex. office, desks, dress) and internal characteristics (thinking way and personality). Then we were grouped as follows:
(1). Intuitors-
They have highly enthusiastic, creative and strong conceptualization skills.
They like think outside the box. They focus on meaning and notice patterns. Use intuition.
(2). Sensers-
They often ask ‘will it work’, ‘how’, ‘who will do what’ Direct and down-to-earth.
They always say "Action!” and “Getting things done!". Use 5 senses.
(3). Thinkers-
They are objective, logical and organized.
They always ask “How can you be so sure?”
(4). Feelers-
They are harmonic, dynamic and warm.
They are communicators, patient, good listeners and good observers.
All of us successfully found our belonged groups, except few members were confused due to overlapped characteristics among different types.
5. Responses under different situations:
Angel asked us to discuss our instinct response and share solutions under different situations. To our surprise, we found our thinking ways relating with our own communication types. One of the situations is a real story which Angel shared more as below.
6. Book-Review張永威,騎在天使安排的道路上
The author was 29, who lost mom and sister within 2 years. He decided to bike cross USA (from New York to San Diego) in memory of his mom and sister. Through the free food and accommodation provided by strangers, the author felt the love and support from the world. He learned the journey is a gift from his families and appreciated what he had.
The book was given to one member who liked to read this inspiring story. Angel hopes Blissers can learn the wisdom the author learned from the journey and suggested the member pass the book to next one after she finished it.
7. Strengths and weakness of each type-
We discussed strengths and weakness by communication types and tried to figure out in which job field we are competent to do well. Through the discussions, we know better about ourselves and others.
8. Tips to work with 4 types
(1) Intuitors-Encourage them to clarify their ideas. Help them to plan for implementing their ideas.
(2) Sensers-Try to be specific and brief for their questions. Better to offer solutions when you talk to them.
(3) Feelers-Try to listen and use eye contact during communication.
(4) Thinkers-Try to analyze pros and cons of your proposal. Better to provide evidence and organized data.
9. Reflections:
We appreciated Angel, the successful Blissers’ Tour Guide, to lead us to explore Communication in a new perspective and all the other participants’ contribution, which made the meeting a valuable and enjoyable memory and individual asset!!! It truly reflected Bliss meetings always bring Bliss to the world!!!
