Johnny Depp 將於《Minamata》飾演戰地攝影師尤金史密斯，

以美國知名戰地攝影師 W. Eugene Smith 為藍本的電影《Minamata》，
將在 2020 年上映，根據 Hollywood Reporter 報道，由藝人 Johnny Depp 飾演。
Minamata 指日本熊本縣的水俁市，在 50 年代發現有工廠長期將含有的甲基汞
的廢水排入海中，發生遺禍數十年的大規模水銀中毒，此病因而定名「水俁病」，
列為「日本四大公害病」之一。
電影以 70 年代為故事背景，講述因二戰紀實作品而知名的 W. Eugene Smith
隨著輝煌歲月過去，本已回歸平淡，但在老朋友和《Life》雜誌編輯的說服下，
去到日本水俁市以影像記錄「水俁病」的實況、揭發政府隱瞞疫情的惡行。
