申請心得
背景
我本身是一位物理治療師，從大學起就對醫療品質和公共衛生有強烈的興趣，還去輔公衛
系，雖然後來因為課程衝突沒有輔完，但也讓我更加了解自己在這方向的追求。記得碩班
畢業時，同學們都投入臨床，我自己也有碰到醫學中心跟台大分院的物理治療師缺在招手
，但是當時我知道我真的很想到公共衛生去看一看，希望更加深入了解公共衛生的角度與
研究方法，如果試過後不喜歡我永遠都可以再回到物理治療，真的還好有來這一趟，走了
這一年多，找到了研究興趣、學習公衛研究方法，到最後順利申請上醫學跟公衛結合的健
康服務研究博士班，真的受到太多幫助跟幸運了。雖然不像版上的一些學長姐有很大領域
的申請，但我這次微跨領域的申請經驗希望也能提供與我背景相近的人一些信心。以下針
對申請準備中常見的一些課題做經驗分享，希望能對後續的學弟妹有一些幫助。
選校
選校我認為當中最重要的關鍵是：Match，不單單只是跟一位老師的研究興趣吻合即可，
如果可以的話更要把系所整體的研究重點也納入參考（例如參考整體系所中從事相關研究
議題的師資多寡、系所發展方向/資源/研究中心），例如Brown University的HSR Ph.D.
師資中從事長照研究的師資就超過5位，還設有長照研究中心，所以長照服務研究是他們
研究的重點 ; Rochester的師資規模雖然較精緻（共7位），但針對長照服務研究的師資
也過半，議題也涵蓋全面，從急性後期照護、短期型／長期型護理之家、社區長照服務等
，所以我也認為是較為全面的LTC study faculty。
選校當然還有其他很多考量，例如我自己就會參考：所在位置、獎學金數量（有無保證全
獎）、錄取人數、在學生華人比例、US-news排名等。其中有幾個我在這次申請經驗中認
為比較特別跟重要的：(1) 獎學金：雖然大家印象中出國讀博班都會有全獎，但是在健康
服務研究跟健康政策管理領域其實不一定，建議一定要在系所網頁有看到類似Funding
are guaranteed during doctoral study的保證會比較安心 ; (2) 錄取人數 / 華人比例
：這點其實是在我申請前滿多學長姐就建議我要注意的，健康服務研究領域在我這次的申
請經驗中，收的博士生人數都不會到很多，大約是在4-5個上下，這也是我認為的底線了
，若是收的在更少（如2-3個）我就不會選擇申請，另外在目前的學生名單中（網頁中的
current / enrolled student file），如果過去幾年只有收1-2位，或甚至沒有華人學生
，可能也要斟酌。
我認為選校其實是整個申請過程中不亞於SOP的一環，畢竟終究只能選一間學校就讀，申請過多跟自己不match的學校除了在SOP準備上會很費時費神，被當砲灰的機會也很大，
所以建議可以早點開始準備選校，挑出真正讓自己的申請是會有競爭力的名單。
CV
CV我建議先寫完再去寫SOP，因為我自己是在整理的過程中好好的思考了是哪些經歷對自
己是真正重要的、促成自己來申請博班、決定自己的研究興趣領域的契機，還有研究能力
重點等，整理完CV後對後續在寫SOP會比較有方向。我CV的寫法可能就與版上的學長姐差
不多，順序是Research Interests
