Amid all the rumors involving the Boston Celtics’ team chemistry, star guard
Kyrie Irving has made it clear that he wants to continue playing with
second-year man Jayson Tatum.

Irving shared his relationship with the 21-year-old. Irving knows how great
Tatum could become — and he’s willing to help him every step of the way.
Though he admits that he has a relationship with every single one of his
teammates, his ties with Tatum is special. Per the Knuckleheads with Quentin
Richardson & Darius Miles, as transcribed by Bryan Kalbrosky of HoopsHype,
Irving said:

to that point [of greatness]. You go ahead. This is yours. You want it? Go
take it.’ And I tell J as well: ‘Me and you in this, going for the guts and
glory. When it’s all on the line? I know I need you right next to me. So let
’s get this thing going.’ I have a different relationship with all of my
teammates but specifically with him, how special he is.”

This is an important bit of news. After all, various rumors reveal that
Irving might not continue on with the Celtics after the summer. Critics have
turned their eyes on Irving as the reason for the Celtics’ underperformance.
Tatum, meanwhile, has been included in potential trade deals. But if all goes
well, we might see an Irving-Tatum duo in Boston for a very long while.
